Grove branch banks on disabled surfers

August 1, 2018 BY

Ben, Donna and Josh from Commonwealth Bank’s Ocean Grove branch present representatives from Disabled Surfers Association Ocean Grove with the cheque.

DISABLED Surfers Association Ocean Grove says it was completely blown away after receiving a $10,000 grant from Commonwealth Bank’s Ocean Grove branch.

The funding through the Centenary Community Grant will buy two new beach wheelchairs to help the organisation with its Let’s Go surfing days.

Ocean Grove branch manager Ben Mumberson said when it came to the Centenary Grant, he felt very strongly about supporting an organisation that worked tirelessly to change people’s lives.

“We wanted to make a difference to an organisation that gives so much for no financial reward and is purely rewarded through someone else’s happiness.

“In today’s world, we realise how hard it can be to raise much-needed funds for equipment, ongoing expenses, and to plan and run events.

“We are really honoured to support the DSA with $10,000 to help with these and also very proud to announce that we won’t be stopping at just the donation of money – The Commbank Ocean Grove team will also be attending these programs and supporting in any way we can.”

Narelle from OG DSA said: “We want to say a huge thank you to all of the wonderful staff at the Ocean Grove branch of the Commonwealth Bank.

“We are truly honoured and grateful for their amazing and generous donation.”
