CHRISTMAS spirit will be alive and well in Ocean Grove this weekend when thousands of locals attend Carols in the Park.

Held this Sunday December 9 at Grove Pavilion, the much-loved annual event will feature the Geelong Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Hayden Dinse, and Geelong Harmony Chorus.

Along with local Ocean Grove primary school children performing on stage, there’ll be all the carols you love, sung by leading local artists and special performances that will surprise and delight, with the region’s popular radio personality Mike Hyland as master of ceremonies.

Thanks to the support of the Ocean Grove Connected Communities, safe LED candles will again be available at each of the entry gates on the night.

Locals are also invited to bring an unwrapped gift to put under a giant Christmas tree on the night, which will be distributed to needy children by Cottage by the Sea.

The much-loved Carols in the Park continues to be the largest community gathering of the year, with more than 3,000 people attending last year’s event.

The Carols in the Park are only possible because of generous supporters and sponsors, including City of Greater Geelong, Ocean Grove Connected Communities and Ocean Grove Combined Churches, among many others.

Gates will open at 5pm to allow for families to grab a snag from the sausage sizzle or a delicious pancake, which were a huge hit last year.

Mark your calendars and diaries for Sunday December 9 at Ocean Grove Park at 7pm and get ready to enjoy the spirit of Christmas with the community.
