Grove to Heads and back again in free bus

December 22, 2017 BY

A FREE Barwon Coast Beach Bus this summer will take the stress out of parking for locals and tourists.

The free bus, organised by Barwon Coast, is a great way to get from A to B in Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads during the towns’ busiest season.

“It’s also a great option for teenagers who don’t yet have their driving license and want to get around town or down to the local beaches – the bus tows a trailer for passengers to stow bulky beach gear,” Barwon Coast general manager Gary McPike said.

“The bus travels from Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads, with scheduled stops all along the way.

“It runs from 10am to 6pm daily from December 27 to January 28.”

Mr McPike said heavy traffic could slow the bus down, but experience to date was that it ran roughly to an hourly schedule from Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads.

He said that to help with any uncertainty, Barwon Coast ran a Beach Bus tracker on its website, which let people see exactly where the bus was at any time.

Pip Jankowski from Ocean Grove used the bus last summer to get to Barwon Heads with her daughter Sophia, and said she found the Beach Bus Tracker on the Barwon Coast website very helpful.

“I didn’t have to wonder how far away the bus was, I could just jump online and check its location and then knew when to head to the bus stop,” she said.

Maps of the bus route and stops will soon be available at shops around town, in caravan parks and on the Barwon Coast website at barwoncoast.com.au.
