Grove house fire claims father and son

A SECOND house fire in Ocean Grove in just over a month has claimed the lives of a father and son.

The bodies of Paul Solo, 90, and David Solo, 57, were found in their Powell Street home on Monday after fire gutted the two-storey property.

Paul was known for his bushy beard and friendly demeanour and was a former teacher at Ocean Grove Primary.

Both were amateur historians, with their house filled with books and artefacts.

Police and CFA members arrived at the fire just a few minutes after receiving calls from neighbours on Monday about 4am.

Police said that they were not treating the fire as suspicious.

Monday’s tragedy follows a fatal house fire on Arcturus Road that took the life of teacher Dawn Webster in July.
