Grove residents encouraged to get online this October

October 11, 2018 BY

OCEAN Grove & District Men’s Shed will help locals aged over 50 improve their digital skills next week, thanks to the international campaign Get Online Week.

The event, taking place at The Shed in Ocean Grove, gives everyone the chance to make the most of the internet, no matter how confident they are online.

Running from October 15 to October 21, Get Online Week will see hundreds of community events take place across the country.

It is the first time the campaign has been held in Australia, after 11 successful years in the UK, where hundreds of thousands of people have been supported.

Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed coordinator and secretary Bruce Ward said more people than you think still didn’t use the internet at all, and they would be there to help.

“Getting the most out of the internet doesn’t have to be scary,” he said.

“Doing just one new thing online is all you need to do to get started – come along to our event and we can help you do just that!”

Mr Ward said he was holding Get Online Week events on Wednesday October 17 between 1pm and 3pm and Thursday October 18 between 10am and 2pm.

The Shed is at 17 Smithton Grove in Ocean Grove. The event is free Men and women over the age of 50 are invited to attend.
