Grubbers ready to hit the ground running
OCEAN Grove Football Netball Club is confident of a strong and successful year, with a new team, coach and recruits on-board.
President Tony Potter said the football side had recruited well with the addition of Luke Catelli, Justin Carey, Nick Lynch and Glenn Campbell, while returning players such as Jahd Anderson Kieran McNally and past captain Pete Corredig would add welcome experience.
Mr Potter said the netball side had also been proactive after finishing in the finals last year and had added Rebecca Scott and Ashton Obrien to an already strong group.
He said an exciting aspect to the club this year was the addition of a women’s team, with strong numbers and a new coach in Jase Lydom who knows how far this group could go.
“Playing on Sundays at the Memorial ground it will give us all an opportunity to get back to the club’s roots and support the Grubbers march to September,” he said.
Mr Potter said the club’s sponsors were the most loyal in the competition and he wanted to thank them for their ongoing support.
“Special thanks must go to Ocean Grove Pizza and Pasta and Driftwood Cafe for being major sponsors of our men’s and women’s football teams,” he said.
Mr Potter said he was confident of a successful year in all grades through juniors to seniors and hoped the Grubber army would get on board to support the great club.
