OCEAN GROVE Cricket Club (OGCC) members are supporting the McGrath Foundation with a ticketed Pink Ladies Day event tomorrow and an online fundraiser.

Social committee member Danni Vose said it has been three years since the Grubbers hosted their last fundraiser in support of the foundation’s mission to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without a breast care nurse.

“The last big one we held was in 2020 just before COVID, and we raised about $6,000-7,000 that day,” she said.

Ms Vose said the return of the Pink Day event at the club is a good opportunity for women to “get out and talk, and for survivors to talk”.

“And (know) that they’re not alone and there are different issues that may be coming up in women’s lives, not just breast cancer but many things these days post-COVID,” she said.

“A breast cancer diagnosis can change your life in an instant and the impact can be felt right through your family, friends, and community.”

Raffles, silent auctions, and the day’s bar tab will all help raise additional funds on top of the $40 ticket cost, with all proceeds going to the McGrath Foundation.

“A lot of local organisations, businesses big and small have also donated their time or services,” Ms Vose said.

After receiving a glass of bubbles on arrival, participants will hear from a Barwon Health breast care community nurse who is booked as guest speaker, and local musician Sam Hanson will provide entertainment.

“It’s just about the community getting together and supporting each other in a friendly environment, it’s a pretty casual day,” Ms Vose said.

The OGCC’s Pink Day runs from 2-5pm tomorrow (February 11) at 50 Shell Road, Ocean Grove.
