THE Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club hosted an exclusive sneak peek of its redeveloped clubhouse over the weekend, announcing major construction plans are on track for completion by the end of the month.

Members and visitors walked through most areas of the surf life saving club on Saturday to check out the transformation which was made possible thanks to federal, state and local government funding.

The project received $4.275 million from the Victorian government, $1.15 million from the federal government and $150,000 from the City of Greater Geelong for the rebuild.

However, the Ocean Grove SLSC said it required more funds to help with the fitout.

“While major construction is nearing completion, we do have a shortfall of funds to fully fit out the building,” a social media post by the SLSC read.

“We require additional funds to complete the fit out of the vital first aid room as well as education and training, storage, hospitality and administration areas.”

Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson attended the clubhouse reveal and committed an extra $135,000 for the provision of surf craft storage racks if the Morrison Liberal Government was re-elected on May 18.

The clubhouse is gratefully accepting donations of any amount via its website oceangroveslsc. asn.au and over the phone 5255 1382.
