Heads community supports Jakara’s Olympic journey
A FUNDRAISING event at Barwon Heads on the weekend has raised $10,500 to support local Jakara Anthony’s Olympic journey.
Barwon Grove Golf Club – also known as the Tin Shed – hosted the event on Sunday for Jakara, who aims to be selected in the 2018 Australian Olympic Team bound for PyeongChang in South Korea in the sport of mogul skiing.
“It was awesome!” organiser Marnie Stephens said.
“Such a great crowd turned up to support Jakara and her Olympic campaign.
“All up we raised $10,500 for her to support her Olympic journey and we couldn’t be happier.
“The crowd was very supportive and Jakara, together with her parents Sue and Daryn, and her brother Matt were truly appreciative of everyone’s efforts.”
Sue said: “We are very humbled, proud, excited, and so very thankful to our friends, family and our local community – we can’t thank you all enough”.
Jakara thanked all who offered their support and was grateful to everyone who donated and attended on the day.
She said she hopes to make Barwon Heads proud and be selected for the coming 2018 Winter Olympics team.
