IGA Torquay deli manager, Tracy Merlo, says customers are loving the addition of a delicious SumoSalad bar.

SURF Coast salad lovers have a healthy new takeaway option with the opening of a delicious Sumo Deli bar in Ryans IGA Torquay.
Made fresh daily on the premises, the Gilbert Street store now offers a range of 12 tasty new Sumo options that are exclusive to selected IGA stores.
CEO and co-founder of SumoSalad, Luke Baylis, said the partnership had received a fantastic response already, with customers loving the flavours, large range of new products and environmentally friendly packaging.
“Customers are not only trying it but repeat purchasing over 76 per cent of the time which is huge!” he said.
Luke said the Sumo philosophy was to make healthy food taste great so customers never had to feel they were making a compromise.
“Sumo has been actively working with IGA to expand our reach to enable all Australians access to delicious and healthy foods,” Luke said.
“Together IGA and Sumo can help serve local communities in need of healthy food that is affordable and help tackle Australia’s current health crisis caused by dietary related disease.”
Popular sellers from the new range include the Chipotle chicken Mexican Salad and the Miso Salmon and Avocado, with classics such as the Chicken Caesar and Asian-inspired salads remaining ever-popular.
Ryans IGA is a 100 per cent locally owned and operated family business which has been proudly serving the Torquay community since 1979.
Sumo recently celebrated 17 years in business and Luke said its success could be attributed to the fact it was always evolving its products and finding new ways to help Australians gain access to healthy foods.
That, of course, includes its latest collaboration with IGA stores.
“Sumo is a trusted and recognised brand that customers know stands for fresh, delicious and healthy products,” Luke said.
“Torquay is going to be an amazing community to get access to the Sumo offering and it will meet our customer’s needs.”
Luke said Sumo catering was also available through the deli bar at IGA all year around and Christmas Salad Platters were part of the festive offering.
Along with the introduction of Sumo salads to its range, Ryans IGA Torquay has added fresh sushi as another ready-to-go meal option for the local community to enjoy.
