Heroes inspire Harriet
FIREFIGHTERS who worked hard to control the aftermath of an explosion at Mortimer Petroleum in Drysdale were the inspiration behind a costume Harriet Robertson wore to daycare.
Harriet, 3, dressed up as a superhero firefighter during National Superhero Week for Muscular Dystrophy, which was supported by the Boorai Centre in Ocean Grove.
In the early hours of September 7, the night before her daycare session, Harriet heard the emergency unfold near her house.
She said she heard explosions and sirens, and was scared so went to sleep in her mum’s bed.
During daycare, educators spoke to the children about firefighters and how they worked hard to put fires out and keep everyone safe.
National Superhero Week for Muscular Dystrophy is a week-long event (September 4-10) where people across Australia dress up as their favourite superhero to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Australia’s programs, services and research. Head to superherodaymd.com.
