Holden enthusiasts grace the Bellarine
MORE than 300 of Australia’s finest automotive creations rolled through the Borough of Queenscliffe and surrounds, following a successful four-day car bonanza.
After two postponements and a four-year wait, Holden owners of the brand’s historic HK-G series descended on Queenscliff from across the country for a once-in-a-generation opportunity at the 2023 HK HT HG Holden Nationals, hosted by the KTG Club of Victoria.
Among the entrants was Mannerim resident and KTG Club of Victoria member Noel Harper.
Mr Harper said he didn’t take the weekend for granted, recognising this year’s Nationals might be the only time it takes place in his own backyard.
“I’ve been to half a dozen Monaro Nationals, but this was my first HK HT HG Nationals.
“To put it simply, the cars were the best part of event, I felt a bit like a kid in candy shop.
“I love that specific era of Holdens, that’s the series I grew up with dating back to my first car in 1972 – a 327 Monaro.”
Visitors took part in an array of road cruises on Sunday.
The cruises took drivers to areas including Torquay, Barwon Heads and Geelong, after all cars in attendance were put on display at Saturday’s public Show n Shine at Princess Park.
The headline event on Monday brought drivers to the Great Ocean Road for The Great KTG Great Ocean Road Cruise, taking visitors through towns such Anglesea, Lorne, and Apollo Bay.
