More than 600 cars and motorcycles took over Queenscliff’s Princess Park for the first time in three years in the return of the Queenscliff Rod Run.

Organising bodies Geelong Street Rodders and Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Lions Club said this year’ event was a success, drawing more than 1,000 attendees to Sunday’s event.

Geelong Street Rodders president Craig Morrissey said it was terrific to have the Rod Run return to its original structure.

“This year’s event pretty much took off from where it was left last year,” Mr Morrissey said.

“It was fantastic to have it back to what is its original format.”

The previous two borough meets in 2021 and 2022 were not officially held in the Bellarine town, but local hospitality venues were booked out weeks in advance ahead of Sunday’s community Show’N’Shine.

Borough of Queenscliffe mayor Isabelle Tolhurst conducted her first Mayor’s Choice at the Rod Run, selecting Warren’s 1959 Ford Skyliner.

The car was one of 621 entered into the event.

“The borough was abuzz this weekend, with heritage and history very much on show,” Cr Tolhurst said.

“Thanks to all involved for another successful event.”
