Iconic shapers and artists team up to help transform lives

SURF shapers and artists are teaming up with Ocean Mind to launch Art Unleashed, an auction to transform young people’s lives.

Six legendary surfboard shapers and artists have joined forces for the special online art auction, with all funds raised supporting the organisation’s ground-breaking work to transform the lives of young people experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and disabilities.

“Ocean Mind is committed to changing young people’s lives through surf therapy,” Ocean Mind founder and chief Rachael Parker said.

“We’re thrilled to be launching our very first art auction fundraiser, Art Unleashed, and to be collaborating with an amazing team of legendary surfboard shapers and renowned artists.

“Art Unleashed is an incredible opportunity for three lucky people to add a unique piece of surf art to their quiver, and support Ocean Mind’s life-changing work. Online bidding for these iconic surfboards is open from now until 3pm on Saturday, June 27.”

Shapers and artists donated their time, materials and talent to support the auction. Maurice Cole (Varuna) and Natalie Martin, Corey Graham and Xavier Davies, and Luca Rossi (Babel Surfboards) and Erin Reinboth collaborated to create three unique surfboards.

Ocean Mind transforms the lives of young people experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation and disabilities, through therapeutic surfing programs.

The Ocean Mind program is one part of the mental health service network that supports young people.

The organisation concentrates its efforts on early intervention and act to compliment clinical and acute care to achieve better outcomes for young people.
