Input sought for planned revamp of busy St Leonards area

January 14, 2023 BY

A section of the foreshore nearby St Leonards Pier is the focus of a draft master plan between Bellarine Bayside and the City of Greater Geelong.

BELLARINE Bayside and the City of Greater Geelong are inviting coastal user feedback to assist in the development a master plan for approximately 2.9 hectares of the St Leonards foreshore.

The area encompassing the St Leonards Pier car park and Harvey Park, one of the town’s most frequently used areas, is subject to mixed uses between residents, visitors and community groups.

The upcoming planning process will aim to resolve issues highlighted in previous public consultations with the intention to address safety concerns and improve the areas for users.

“During consultation for the development of the Northern Bellarine Coastal and Marine Management Plan several years ago, we identified small areas in both St Leonards and Indented Head requiring more detailed planning due to the variety and intensity of foreshore use in those areas,” Bellarine Bayside CEO Bruce Elliot said.

“We have developed a masterplan for the area in Indented Head and are now looking to develop one for this area of St Leonards.”

An information stall at the St Leonards Seaside Market on January 21 with staff from Bellarine Bayside and the City of Greater Geelong will be held for public input and awareness.

Bellarine Bayside and the city urge residents and visitors to attend and find out more about the process.

An online community survey will then open shortly after.
