Intruder sparks sudden lockdown at Torquay school
A Torquay primary school was plunged into lockdown this afternoon (Thursday, August 7), after an unidentified person was seen wandering the school grounds.
Staff at Torquay P-6 College initiated a precautionary lockdown at 2.35pm, and contacted emergency services for assistance.
In a message to parents at about 3pm, the school confirmed Victoria Police had attended the scene and declared the grounds safe and secure.

“Police attended the scene promptly and have since confirmed that the site is safe and secure,” the notice read.
“At no stage were any students or staff harmed and the situation was managed swiftly and effectively.
“We are incredible proud of how our students and staff responded, demonstrating calmness, urgency and professionalism throughout the process.”
