QUEENSCLIFF Primary School’s bi-annual art show is returning with a showcase of student artworks.

On August 8 more than 300 works will be on display, with the theme of ‘It’s Alive’ and inspired by famous artists, nature and the world.

Art show director Kelly Caldwell said they are showing how things are alive in different ways, “focusing on animals, botanical artwork, plants, but also showing that things come alive through your stores and culture as well”.

This year’s show has been a community effort with parents coming together to teach students new skills from Parks Victoria talking about nudibranchs to parents teaching sewing workshops.

“We’re actually trying to tap into the community and seeing what they know and giving kids the opportunity to grow some connections there as well,” Ms Caldwell said.

Students were also able to record a soundscape for the event, made of natural elements following the theme of ‘It’s Alive’, which will play in the background throughout the art show.

When creating their pieces, students were given the opportunity to work with a range of mediums and materials including mosaics, painting, drawing, ceramics, carving and more.

Ms Caldwell said through the art show the school wants to showcase the abilities of all the children at the school.

“I just want them to know we value them and we get so much joy and love out of watching them create things and creating things together and for many of them it’s a really safe, happy space creating artwork.

“It will beautifully showcase their work and really show children how much we value their ideas and their talents.”

Ms Caldwell said she’s looking forward to the “shrieks of delight” from students when they see their artworks on the wall.

The art show will be held at St George’s Old School Hall from 11am until 2.30pm and 3.30pm until 7.00pm, with an official opening and presentation taking place from 6pm.

Entry is $5 per person with tickets available at the door or from trybooking.com/CSIVL
