Junior footy kicks off at Newcomb

April 22, 2021 BY

Newcomb players outnumber Grovedale for the ball.

JUNIOR football kicked off across the Bellarine and Geelong at the weekend, with Newcomb U11s taking on Grovedale at the Power House.

Junior football co-ordinator Scott Smith said it was great to see all the boys and girls on the park on Saturday, kicking the footy with their friends and having a laugh along the way.

“We have had a busy period organising teams, kitting everyone in club gear, and with a strong band of volunteers we managed to get over 200 kids on the ground across 10 teams and Auskick,” Smith said.

“It was great to have a full day at the club with juniors in the morning and seniors in the afternoon, a great community day.

“Oh how we have missed that.”

While Grovedale beat Newcomb in the U11s, the seniors team defeated Anglesea, 10.14-74 to 6.9-45 at Newcomb Sand & Soil Oval.

Newcomb FNC is a community club where both junior and senior levels are given an opportunity to improve their skills, team work and meet many friends.

If you are interested in playing football or netball then come down to the Power House at the Newcomb Football and Netball Club located at 177 Coppards Road, Newcomb.
