LEOPOLD Lions president Richard Hockley has described a Junior Day held at Leopold Memorial Recreation Reserve at the weekend as “a good start to the season”.

About 150 junior football and netball players turned out to take part in skills sessions with senior players, along with enjoying two jumping castles and chowing down on a sausage sizzle and popcorn.

Mr Hockley said players also received show bags including a pair of socks, stickers and a few bits and pieces.

“The senior netball players ran drills with young players over on the netball courts, while the senior footy players took four or five groups through a series of footy clinics,” he said.

“It was a good way to start the year.”

Mr Hockley said Leopold would boast 10 junior footy sides this year and 11 junior netball sides.
