Kids try fishing and love it
FISHERMANS Beach lived up to its name last Tuesday, with the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) coming to Torquay to teach kids how to beach fish.
As part of their Come & Try Beach Fishing Day, 50 children aged up to 16 were treated to hands-on clinics run by VFA staff and Torquay Angling Club Members.
Fishing personality from Talking Fishing, Adam Ring, also explained the dos and don’ts of beach safety and fishing from the coastline to a captivated audience.
Children of all different skill levels participated, with a few lucky youngsters reeling in mullet and Aussie salmon.
Event organiser and VFA coordinator for the Target One million program Craig Ingram said the day was a complete success.
“Our Come & Try Beach Fishing events are all showcasing how much fun fishing is.
“We want to get more people fishing, more often” For more information head to vfa.vic.gov.au.
