A MASTERPLAN for Portarlington Recreation Reserve will highlight the increased pressure the Bellarine’s booming population is placing on local infrastructure.

Earlier this week, Bellarine MP Lisa Neville announced that a re-elected Labor Government would deliver $50,000 towards the masterplan, which was great news for the Portarlington Demons Football Netball Club, the Portarlington Cricket Club and the Portarlington Tennis Club and local residents.

President Andrew Aquilina said the football and netball club acknowledged and was extremely grateful for the time Ms Neville had provided, to allow them to highlight the ever growing needs of the community.

“This pledge allows the sporting clubs of Portarlington to come together and derive a masterplan that will benefit the many local groups, sporting and otherwise,” he said.

“It is an important recognition of the increased pressure our booming population is placing on local infrastructure.”

Ms Neville said she had met with all the clubs to discuss their current and future requirements and as a result
was very happy to advocate for this important funding.

“Portarlington Recreation Reserve, the footy, cricket and tennis clubs are at the heart of this local community.

“With this investment, we’ll make sure this well-loved location can continue serving local sport clubs and the community, now and well into the future.”

The commitment builds on Labor’s investment in local sport, including over $8 million for the Drysdale Sports Precinct upgrade, $3.35 million for Queenscliff and the recent $200,000 for new lighting at Collendina Sports Ground as part of Pick My Project.
