THE Ocean Grove Golf Club has raised $6,500 for Dementia Australia at its second annual charity golf day.

The event was driven by the club’s women members, who launched the fundraiser in 2024 in support of a fellow player whose mother lives with dementia.

This year’s result is more than triple last year’s total.

Club member Susie Stevens said the cause aligns with the values and community spirit that guide the Ocean Grove Golf Club.

“Golf is a privilege to play. We’re lucky to be well enough to play; we all know people who can’t play anymore,” she said.

“It’s a privilege to be here and if you can do something for the community and others, you should.”

A full field of 56 golfers dressed in purple, the colour of Alzheimer’s awareness, took part, with funds raised through raffles, auction items and direct donations.

Contributions from local businesses and entrepreneurs — including original artworks and an accommodation package — proved especially popular.

Buoyed by this year’s success, Stevens said planning for 2026 was already underway.

“Bring on next year — we’ll be bigger next year,” she said.
