Lappin talks footy before the game
A three-time AFL premiership player shared his thoughts on his career and the modern game at the Torquay Tigers’ annual “Before the Game” function on Saturday. This year’s event featured Nigel Lappin, who won three consecutive premierships with the Brisbane Lions from 2001 to 2003, retired in late 2008 and was named as an assistant coach with the Geelong Cats only three weeks later; a position he still holds nearly a decade later. The function, which also included a live auction of memorabilia, drew a sell-out crowd to the clubrooms at Spring Creek Reserve ahead of the Tigers’ game against Barwon Heads.
