Learn to sail this summer at Torquay Sailing Club

November 1, 2018 BY

THE Torquay Sailing Club is about to start its 2018-2019 sailing season and is again offering an adults learn to sail training course.

The course uses the club’s Hobie Waves, which are small catamarans easily managed by beginners and provide a safe introduction to catamaran sailing.

The Torquay Sailing Club is the ideal place to learn with club facilities located on The Esplanade at Zeally Bay, where you can sail off the beach using Hobie catamarans.

If you have not sailed before you don’t need to worry; the course is designed for those who have zero or little experience in sailing catamarans.

The club is fortunate to have Fletcher Warren- Myers, a club member and a world champion Hobie sailor as the sailing instructor.

He has great experience in instructing novices in the art of catamaran sailing and providing an unforgettable experience for participants.

The course, which runs over four weeks on Saturday afternoons, covers the basics of rigging, sailing and safety issues associated with Hobie offshore sailing.

The course starts on November 10 and runs from noon to 3pm, weather and sea conditions permitting.

The cost of the course is $550 per person which includes a year’s membership to the Club.
