LEOPOLD Primary School will reap the benefits of a $3.22 million-dollar upgrade to its facilities, officially opened by Bellarine MP Lisa Neville on Thursday, December 12.

The upgrade includes a new learning centre with four modern classrooms and a central break out space, providing flexible learning options for students in smaller or larger groups.

Ms Neville congratulated all parties involved during the opening and reiterated the importance of maintaining first-class facilities.

Leopold Primary is a great school and I congratulate the entire school community on the completion of this upgrade,” she said.

“Over many years I have had the pleasure of working with, and for, the school in ensuring it provides modern facilities for its students.

“I commend principal Stuart Bott, and importantly former principal Jan Rollinson, on their leadership, and all teachers and staff for their hard work over the duration of the project.”

Included in the centre are a number of teacher meeting rooms, the upgrade also includes a new student presentation centre with tiered seating for 40 students.

In addition, the school’s outdoor and sporting facilities have been modernised, featuring a synthetic sport field and running track, allowing for greater use of these areas especially in the winter months.

The new all-weather sporting facilities can be utilised by the wider Leopold community outside of school hours; the staff carpark car park was sealed, together with some refurbishments to existing buildings.

Ms Neville congratulated the school council led by president Wayne Visser for their support and ongoing commitment to the school.

“The upgrade ensures that Leopold students and teachers have first class facilities in which to learn and work for many years to come,” Ms Neville said.

“The state government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

“A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the state government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.”
