BUDDING journalists at Leopold Primary School are producing their own newspapers.
Grade 6 students Jade Farago, Mia Lynch, Aleasha Teijeiro, Allie Irvine, Layla Sheedy and Remy O’Hara are the brainchild behind “The Leopold Primary School News” and “The Leopold Kinder Kids Newspaper”.
“The Leopold Kinder Kids Newspaper” will be offered to local kindergartens and includes information for potential pupils about the primary school, uniform and prep playground, while “The Leopold Primary School News” includes sections “Preps, 1s, 2s, and 3s News” and “Grade 4s, 5s and 6s News”.
The latter paper features all school events, what’s currently happening in the school and what’s coming up.
A couple of the girls have also written articles about their school for the Leopold Local, which focus on Book Week, the Indigenous Book Swap and the school’s new building that is underway.
The girls aim to publish a newspaper each term and will take some Grade 5 students under their wing next term to train them up.
Principal Mr Bott has the job of proofreading the paper before it goes to print, and copies will be available from the school office for $1.50 each.
