Bellarine set to host Remembrance Day ceremonies and events

THE Bellarine will host a number of Remembrance Day ceremonies this Sunday to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice that ended World War I. One hundred years ago on November 11,
1918, four bloody years of brutal conflict came to an end.

Almost 62,000 Australians died fighting for our freedom and in service of our nation. Sunday   November 11, 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended World War I.

In the four years of the war more than 330,000 Australians served overseas, and more than 60,000 of them died, including 33 men and one woman from the Drysdale District.

The social effects of these losses cast a long shadow over the postwar decades.
