LEOPOLD boxer Jack Light’s match against Queensland’s Beven Henry came to an end after just 72 seconds.

Light said Bevan was his fifth replacement opponent for Team Ellis’ Once Upon A Time at the Melbourne Pavilion last Friday night.

Bevan flew in 48 hours prior after four previous opponents withdrew for various reasons.

“A short counter left hook dropped Henry 17 seconds into the first round,” Light said.

“He beat the count, and after a few combinations landed, he was fallen once again with a left hook-left rip combination to the body, the referee didn’t even count, calling a halt to the contest following the second knockdown as Henry was unable to continue, the end coming 72 seconds into the opening stanza.”

Light said fellow Geelong fighters included Brandon-Lee Rocco, who suffered a narrow defeat to Jyl Wright.

“Cain Brunton defeated Timmy Tse via decision to move to 3-0, 2 KOs, Clint Alderton was unlucky to score a draw with Jonathan Binet and Kyle Webb remained unbeaten scoring a first round stoppage of Nathan MacLean, winning the Victorian Cruiserweight Title in the process.”

The boxers will return on Old Skool Promotions’ inaugural show on June 9 at the South Barwon Civic Centre in Belmont.

Tickets are on sale now with matchups being announced soon.
