Lighting upgrade begins construction in Queenscliff
THE Queenscliff community are ready to enjoy better lighting at its sporting mecca, following an announcement
commencing the installation of new lighting at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve.
Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker joined Borough of Queenscliffe and Queenscliff Football Netball Club representatives to celebrate the beginning of construction on new light towers at the reserve.
Ms Coker and the federal government committed $160,000 to the Coutas prior to the 2022 federal election.
She said the club’s upgraded lightning was one of the final steps needed to be completed as part of the club’s redevelopment works over the past decade.
“It’s so exciting for the Coutas and everyone in Queenscliff to see this project no under way,” Ms Coker said.
“The upgraded LED lighting will make training safer and enable night games to be played which will open up so many more opportunities for the club.”
“I’m very proud to be able to deliver this commitment alongside the Borough of Queenscliffe and the club.”
Construction is expected to be completed by the first week of August later this year.
Borough of Queenscliffe councillor and former mayor Isabelle Tolhurst said the upgrade will have long-lasting benefits to the club and the wider community.
“Infrastructure upgrades that enable facilities to be used longer and by more people such as new lights are great for the club’s long-term success,” Cr Tolhurst said.
“This is great for the Queenscliff Football Netball Club which continues to grow and engage many across our community.”
