Lions den expected to be finished for 2018 season

WORK is well under way on Leopold Football Netball Club and Leopold Cricket Club’s new clubrooms at Leopold Memorial Park.

The newly refurbished and extended clubrooms, which will feature new players’ rooms, a gymnasium, kitchen and bar, are expected to be finished in time for the 2018 season.

“So much incredible history and memories created in this room,” the club said.

“It is sad to see it go but at the same time we are extremely excited for what the future holds and to have some of the best facilities in the Geelong region.”

In 2016, the state government and the City of Greater Geelong allocated funding to build two new netball courts and netball change rooms on the north end of the sports pavilion.

Then, in October last year, the remaining funds ($1.1 million) were used to redevelop the 40-year-old sports pavilion.

The club then launched a “Buy a Brick” campaign to help buy essential equipment not covered by the funding.
