THE Lions Club of Ocean Grove Barwon Heads will receive a grant of $11,500 to help construct a storage shed.

Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson visited Lions Club member on Monday to present the funding for the shed, which will house the Lions Club barbecue trailer .

This will allow the club to continue fundraising with OH&S compliant equipment.

The funding comes from Round 4 of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Programme (SCP)

Under Round 4 of the Federal Government’s SCP, each electorate will receive $150,000 to allocate towards successful projects, with a maximum of 20 projects to be funded per electorate.

Grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 are available for successful applications.

“The additional investment for a fourth round of SCP will ensure that local decision making continues to play a decisive role in funding community building projects,” Ms Henderson said.

“Our region has been very successful under previous rounds of the Stronger Communities Program, funding a wide range of projects including the upgrade to the Ocean Grove Tennis Club pavilion, the Kennett River Wildlife Walk and the upgrade of the Barwon Heads Community Hall stage.”
