Local artists raise $7,000 for Barwon Heads Primary School
CLOSE to $7,000 has been raised to assist Barwon Heads Primary School in enhancing its art curriculum at its inaugural Art Show.
The “Coastal Currents” exhibition featured photographs, pottery and paintings by Barwon Heads, Torquay, Ocean Grove and Point Lonsdale based artists with a focus on connections to nature and the ocean.
Contributing artists included Glenn Barry, Alice Bell, Mark Cairns, Andy Diprose, Anna Fitzpatrick, Chelsea Gustafsson, Sophia Legoe, Nikole Ramsay and Alice Trow.
Works were exhibited both online in a week-long live auction and in person at the school.
Local artists works were accompanied by students’ creations from the school year.
Barwon Heads Primary School principal Rob Bennetts said the school community was thrilled with the success of their recent art show.
“The event offered our students a rare opportunity to showcase their artwork alongside some of the region’s most talented local artists.
“The funds raised from the show will support a special student performance in 2025 to celebrate our school’s 150-year anniversary.
“Our heartfelt thanks go to all the artists who generously donated their incredible pieces for the auction—your support has been invaluable.”
