Local knowledge at Spring Creek Community House

May 16, 2018 BY

Spring Creek Community House hosts several community groups.

Whether you want to study for a career or simply try a hobby that’s always interested you, Spring Creek Community House offers a range of opportunities to live and learn locally.

Accredited diploma and certificate courses can launch your career in early childhood education, business administration, leisure and health, aged care and individual support.

There are art classes in life drawing, acrylics and watercolours with acclaimed local artists Jan Dick and Pat McKenzie, and cooking classes that teach everything from paella to gluten-free cooking.

A range of computer courses designed for beginners through to experienced users can give you the skills to make the most out of the digital world.

For children, the Morning Activity Program (MAPs) includes Little da Vincis, where preschool children and their parents enjoy getting messy with arts and crafts. The Bells and Beats, Music and Movement, and Move, Groove and Sing classes introduce preschoolers to instruments, singing and dance movement. To calm things down, Yoga for Kids teaches simple yoga stretches in a fun and engaging way.

The community house hosts several community groups including SCRAR (Surf Coast Rural Australians for Refugees) and MOTHERS (Mothers Offering Time Hope Engagement Refugee Support), which aim to create community engagement and provide support for refugee families. Support and referral services are also available, including AA and NA groups.
