A LIONS Club of Ocean Grove Barwon Heads member is making a difference, one stamp at a time.

Graham Mulroney has been leading the charge in collecting used and new stamps to raise proceeds which are sent to the Australian Lions Childrens Mobility Foundation.

Mr Mulroney said the funds were used to empower children who cannot walk unassisted to reach their potential.

“We do this by funding walking devices that get kids out of their wheel chairs and onto their feet so that they are able to walk, explore, play, work and socialise.

“This makes them stronger and healthier – physically, emotionally and mentally. Walking is our [your] gift to the child, a gift that benefits the child, their family and friends.”

This year alone Graham has collected thousands of stamps from donations, which can either be dropped off at the Bellarine Training & Community Hub, posted to Lions Club of Ocean Grove Barwon Heads or picked up via Facebook correspondence.

The stamps initiative raised $60,000 by stamp auctions nationwide for the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation.

Mr Mulroney has personally run the local fundraiser for half a decade and takes great pride in assisting in this manner.

“It forms part of a national project, so I’m not the only one doing collections like this across Australia,” Mr Mulroney said.

“But it is a great feeling to think about the difference that can be made, the smiles on the kids’ faces, and we’re also saving material from going into landfill.

“As a whole, we collect the stamps year-round, so I’d definitely recommend anyone with free or outgoing stamps to get in touch.”
