FOUR Bellarine primary schools have been lucky enough to secure state government funding further facilitating their love and care of the local environment and wildlife.

Bellarine MP Alison Marchant congratulated the primary schools, named as part of the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants program.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School is receiving $4,994 to help fund their ‘Hands up for Biodiversity’ project: appreciating nature through art; planting and building habitats; observing and caring.

Leopold Primary School was granted $4,810 for their ‘Land, Sea and Me’ project.

Queenscliff Primary School will receive $5,000 funding for their ‘Native Indigenous and Biodiversity Garden’ project.

St Leonards Primary School was granted $4,470 for their ‘Land, Sea and Me 2.0’ project.

“These innovative projects showcase the important role our young people play in the Bellarine in protecting local native wildlife and plants into the future – not only shaping a cleaner, greener and thriving future for our community, but for all Victorians,” Ms Marchant said.

The Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants program has awarded financial assistance to more than 103 childcare centres, kindergartens, schools, Scouts, Guides and youth groups.

The Victorian Landcare Program is part of the Labor Government’s mission to combat the decline of the state’s native plants and animals.
