Locals think spate of dumpings are rubbish

September 5, 2018 BY

A huge pile of rubbish – including used paint tins, tarps, a boogey board, mattresses, doonas and old water cooler jugs – was dumped in St Leonards

ST Leonards residents fear their beautiful little town is turning into a dumping ground for rubbish and disregarded animals.

Suzie Whiteley took to social media last week with a photo of a huge pile of rubbish and the comment, “I was absolutely disgusted and saddened upon seeing this down Ibbotson St yesterday”.

In the photo you can see used paint tins, tarps, a bodyboard, mattresses, doonas and old water cooler jugs.

Comments followed, including, “Sadly this happens along Ibbotson Street and Harvey Road all the time”, and someone asked, “What is it rubbish or someone’s house?”

Another said, “I honestly think St Leonards is a dumping ground, surely locals wouldn’t do this. I also see a lot of cats/kittens that have been dumped too, sadly”, while someone else said the crime rate had sky rocketed.

“Our little town is beautiful as are most of the residents who live here, it’s just that handful that ruin it for the rest of us”, another said.

The City of Greater Geelong said it had not received any complaints of dumped rubbish as yet.
