LOCAL residents will form a committee to work with Liberal Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson to advocate for a new pool for the north Bellarine.

Ms Henderson held a community meeting in Portarlington last week to discuss the importance of the infrastructure

“Those who attended also strongly backed the petition I am running in support of a new pool facility, which has now been signed by hundreds of local residents,” Ms Henderson said.

“The voice of the Bellarine matters – I am urging all local residents to sign my petition, which is at sarahhenderson.com.au/petitions.”

Ms Henderson said there was broad concern about the City of Greater Geelong’s failure to develop any sort of plan or feasibility study for a new aquatic facility, which is vital for families, seniors and children learning to swim.

“More broadly, residents raised their concerns about the lack of funding for infrastructure on the
north Bellarine, which has all but been ignored by Labor.

“I am incredibly disappointed that the City of Greater Geelong has not developed any business case or feasibility plan for a new aquatic facility on the North Bellarine.

“There are very few projects which council has put forward for federal funding in the lead up to the federal election and the Corangamite electorate was all but ignored by council in the recent Building Better Regions Fund.”
