Lockdown exclusion for Point Lonsdale

September 22, 2021 BY

Point Lonsdale residents in the City of Greater Geelong will join their borough neighbours out of lockdown from midnight tonight.

POINT Lonsdale residents will be reunited out of lockdown at midnight tonight, following a state government decision to exclude the entire town from Greater Geelong’s current COVID rules.

On Monday the community of Postcode 3225 was divided when residents on the City of Greater Geelong side of town were placed under lockdown, while those in the Borough of Queenscliffe were unaffected.

Member for Bellarine and Minister for Police Lisa Neville said that having listened to the concerns of locals she had immediately raised the matter with the Minister for Health, urging him to resolve the issue.

Ms Neville said that she had been contacted by numerous Point Lonsdale residents, traders and the Borough of Queenscliffe and “having built a good working relationship with them over many years, I completely understood their concerns”.

“Of course, in making the decision the Minister for Health would have taken into full account the public health advice,” Ms Neville said.

“I commend the communities of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff on their high vaccination rates and thank local health service providers like Bellarine Community Health and Point Lonsdale Medical for their work,” she said.
