Lonsdale Golf course expands and leaves lake alone

January 2, 2018 BY

LONSDALE Golf Club’s course will undergo an expansion without interfering with any sensitive areas around Lake Victoria.

City of Greater Geelong councillors recently voted to amend the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme, which now allows a permit to be issued for a two-lot subdivision that will enable the golf club to purchase part of an adjoining property and reduce the environmental impact of a previous proposal to extend the course around Lake Victoria.

The area around the edges of Lake Victoria, previously approved for the golf course extension, will be rezoned from Special Use Zone 3 to Rural Conservation Zone, thereby protecting the habitat of the orange bellied parrot.

The City requested the Minister for Planning authorise the preparation and exhibition of Amendment C373 and Planning Permit 879/2017.
