Lord of the Strings to perform in Queenscliff

Aussie guitar legend Matthew Fagan will perform at Qdos Fine Arts next Saturday alongside flamenco dancer Laura Uhe.

classical guitarist Matthew Fagan will cross five centuries of music when he performs in Queenslcliff next weekend.

Join the 10-string guitarist for an evening of Spanish and classical guitar at its emotive and technical best on Sunday October 22.

Fagan will present the Guitarra and Virtuoso Spanish and Classical Guitar Concert, crossing music from the 16th to 21st Century.

The concert will also feature highlights from Fagan’s CD, “Virtuoso – A Homage to My Ancestors”.

Albert Parkes (Fagan’s great grandfather) a fine violinist, musician and extraordinary teacher from Covent Garden and his three sons Cecil, Kingsley and Milton, had a profound effect on the Australian musical scene between 1900 to 1940.

Cecil Parkes was a child prodigy violinist who toured with international star soprano Dame Nellie Melba performing in patriot concerts around Australia and touring the USA and Canada with assistance from Dame Nellie Melba in 1916 at the age of 13.

Other than Melba herself, no other Australian artist made such an impact on the international stage in that period.

The concert is at Queenscliff Uniting Church on October 22 at 4pm.
