Lost gold ring still looking for owner
GEELONG’S Justin Humphries is on a mission to find the owner of a stunning platinum and gold ring that he and his wife came across last year while metal detecting on the Surf Coast.
After numerous social media shares and messages by the Greater Geelong community, the owner is yet to be located and Humphries is exercising all avenues to find the missing ring’s owner.
The ring was recovered by Justin and his wife Hayley while metal detecting along a Surf Coast beach in 2021 and was spotted in between some large, exposed rocks.
The platinum and gold wedding ring includes a date and inscriptions on the inside of the ring including the year 2000.
“I think it would be really great to get this ring back to where it belongs, I know how expensive precious metal wedding rings can be,” Humphries said.
“I’d be devastated if it was my own ring and would love to have it back, regardless of how long it has been since losing it.
“We have been posting the ring on all the Geelong and Surf Coast buy/swap/sell sites and community noticeboards along with my own page Geelong Detecting.
“We hope that the owner can come forward and retrieve the ring soon.”
The ring has been held in a safe location in Geelong for the past three months and will remain there until the owner can retrieve it.
The item has been given to local police stations, however if not claimed, they may only hold items for three months, thus constantly being returned to Mr Humphries.
“We’ve shared it dozens of times, we hope we can finally find the rightful owner of the ring.”
