Man drowns at Torquay back beach

A MAN drowned at Torquay back beach at the weekend. Surfers spotted the unconscious man, believed to be in his 50s, in the water on Sunday at about 1pm between the Torquay Life Saving Club and Point Danger, and pulled him from the water. Paramedics were called to the scene but the man was unable to be revived. The man’s death is believed not to be suspicious, and police are preparing a report for the coroner.
