THE Queenscliff Maritime Museum is seeking volunteers to help continue making the facility a vibrant place to be for many years to come.

The organisation is looking for people with a diverse range of skills who can assist with front of house, tours of the museum, tours of the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse and general administration.

Volunteers are also sought to be part of an exciting new events team, who will share the local maritime story with diverse audiences.

Queenscliff Maritime Museum president QMM Kerri Erler said exciting plans were in the pipeline for 2025.

“Earlier this year we did a new strategic plan and identified a range of areas we wanted to improve. To help do that, we need more volunteers.

“The more volunteers we can get, the more vibrant it can be, and the more we can showcase the museum.

“We’ve got our collection management team, research team and our events team that people can be part of.

“Anyone is welcome.”

The museum plans to bring back its popular Fishy Tales event, which involves members of the lifeboat crew, experts on shark fishing and fisherman coming and talking about maritime history.

The Gil Allbutt Boat Shed has been flagged as a top events space for 2025, after being recently refurbished.

The venue was recently utilised for the Queenscliff Music Festival.

“The more people we can have talk about our maritime history, the better.

“We look forward to an exciting new year in 2025.”
