Borough of Queenscliffe mayor Ross Ebbels.

Happy New Year

A Happy New Year to everyone in the Borough! As I mentioned in my inaugural speech, my focus for Council this year will be on finishing up some key projects, like Destination Queenscliff, the Queenscliffe Hub and the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse Reserve. It’ll be a big and busy year, but I’m looking forward to working with residents and community groups to making 2020 one of our most productive years on Council.

Plenty to do in the Borough this summer

I know that the summer break is one of my favourite times here in the Borough, and judging by the size of the crowds we’re seeing this year, I’m not the only one! Whether you’re a long-time resident or a first-time visitor, why not take a look at some of the outstanding community events on show over the next few weeks:
Check out the Queenscliff Twilight Market on 3 January from 4pm. With live music, a bar and lots of market stalls, there’s something for everyone.
Watch the racers cross the finish line of the Rip View Swim Classic at the Point Lonsdale Foreshore on 5 January from 11am.
Show off your artistic side by entering the Queenscliff Sand Sculpture contest on 4 January at the Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House from 11am.
Take the family to the free outdoor cinema at Point Lonsdale Primary School at 7pm on both 10 and 17 January. Visit thegreatoutdoorcinema.com for details.
For a full program of events, visit queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/events to see all that our community has to offer over the summer holidays.

Pedestrian safety on Gellibrand Street

We’ve heard from residents along Gellibrand Street in Queenscliffe that crossing the road as a pedestrian can be dangerous. Council is looking into installing a pedestrian crossing and traffic calming features near the crossroad of Gellibrand Street and Hobson Street. To look at the plans and share your thoughts, visit Queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/Gellibrand or visit Council offices whenever we’re open. Consultation closes 19 January.

I hope you’re all enjoying the summer break.
