Men’s shed helping seniors get connected

August 15, 2019 BY

A couple of members from the Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed work on nesting boxes.

AS well as the regular activities on offer at the Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed, such as working on nesting boxes for various types of birds and native wildlife, the shed is also a Be Connected Network Partner.
Be Connected is a free Australian Government initiative helping, in their case, seniors over the age of 55 get the most out of going online so they can add new skills and experiences to their lives.
On Wednesday August 21, the men’s shed will be running a program at the shed on Being Safe Online, and on Wednesday August 28 they will be running another about using online resources to develop your family tree.
Bookings are essential on 5255 2548.
Seniors can sign up to the Be Connected Program online at beconnected.esafety.gov.au and if they make Ocean Grove & District their network partner they can get free help from the Men’s Shed.
The program is available to both men and women.
Make appointments for either the first or third Wednesday of each month to receive free assistance from the shed.
Be Connected can help you learn the basics of getting online; be safe whilst you are online; talk to or see family and friends more often; keep up-to-date with what’s happening in your community and around the world; build your confidence in using digital technology and learn how to shop online, safely and securely.
The Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed have recently completed their refurbishment and are actively seeking new members.
If men are interested in seeing what they do, as well as what facilities they have, they are invited to drop into the shed at 17 Smithton Grove, Ocean Grove and check them out.
The shed is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday between 9am and 3pm and Wednesday from 9am to 1pm.
