Midnight Oil star to bring debut book to Ocean Grove
BOOKGROVE in Ocean Grove is starting off its 2024 author series with a huge hit by hosting a founding member of Midnight Oil who is now a first-time author.
Jim Moginie will be touring his book The Silver River from Harper Collins Australia on March 7.
More than a rock memoir, The Silver River documents his story of adoption and finding his birth family in far flung places.
Threaded with vivid recollections of childhood, and travel, behind-the-scenes stories of band life, and insights into the creative processes of songwriting, the book is touted as “a must read for anyone interested in Australian music”.
The book launch will be hosted at the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club and be co-chaired by Midnight Oil tragic and local author Jock Serong.
Bookgrove owner Stacey Moore, a Midnight Oil lover for 40 years, said she couldn’t wait to attend the event.
“It’s just the biggest scoop, we are so excited.
“As an Oils tragic myself and from seeing so many shows over the past 35 years, I had to put in a proposal to host a launch event.
“Jock [Serong] was just as excited when I asked him to host the interview and launch. He said ‘I’d break my arm to be there!’
“Jim will also be playing some songs on the night, so it’s going to be one not to miss.”
‘The Silver River’ is released through Harper Collins Australia on Wednesday, March 6.
