Midwinter Words is back

MIDWINTER Words, Portarlington’s annual literary weekend, returns in July with three days of activities featuring well known Australian poet, Julie Maclean.

The event will be held from July 12-14 and include a writers’ salon with refreshments, a poetry workshop with lunch and conclude with a light breakfast and readings.

Ms Maclean will talk about her work and read some of her award-winning poems at the opening on Friday, July 12 in the Bayview Room at Park’s Hall, Portarlington from 6pm to 7.30 pm.

Her workshop in the same venue on Saturday, July 13 will be from 10am to 4pm.

Participants will have the opportunity to read their work from the workshop on Sunday, July 14 at the Portarlington Neighbourhood House from 10-l1.30am.

Julie is the author of Lips that Did, To Have to Follow, Kiss of the Viking and When I Saw Jimi.

She has won awards for her work and many of her poems also appear in several anthologies.

Her latest collection of poetry, Tango Boleo, written in collaboration with Avril Bradley, will be featured at the writers’ salon on the opening night.
