Midwinter Words returns to Port next month

DR LEE Kofman will present the workshop Developing the Writer’s Voice at Portarlington’s annual literary event Midwinter Words next month.

Dr Kofman is a Russian-born, Israeli-Australian author of five books, writing teacher and mentor based in Melbourne.

She has published three fiction books in Hebrew, but since 2002 has been writing exclusively in English.

Her most recent book published in 2016, Rebellious Daughters, is an anthology of memoir by prominent Australian female authors which she coedited with Maria Katsonis.

Her first book in English, The Dangerous Bride, was published in 2014.

Dr Kofman’s workshop on July 21 will be held in the Bayview Room at Park’s Hall, Portarlington from 10am to 4pm.

It will also provide information about getting published and the ethics of writing about real people.

A writers’ breakfast on July 22 will be an optional extra as part of the weekend event, when participants from the workshop will have the opportunity to read their work.

It will be held at Saints and Sailors Seafood Bar and Grill, Portarlington, from 10am to 11.30am.
