Each wing supports 16 individuals and offers them intimate spaces to enjoy and tailored lifestyle activities.

Star of the Sea is a 96-bed aged care residence that is co-located with VMCH’s Star of the Sea Retirement Village. It uses the Montessori principles of care.

This approach empowers individuals to remain as independent as possible and enjoy meaningful activities around their unique talents and abilities.

All staff receive Montessori training to ensure everyone is working towards the same goal to support each resident to live the fullest life possible.

Their lifestyle team learn about the interests and abilities of each resident and provide meaningful activities for them.

Residents love the buffet-style dining room that enables them to be independent and serve themselves from a selection of meals.

Star of the Sea also has a Memory Support Unit, two smaller wings designed for people with dementia. Each wing supports 16 individuals and offers them intimate spaces to enjoy and tailored lifestyle activities.

The smaller dining room and lounge areas are relaxing and peaceful spaces. Star of the Sea’s residential services manager Andrew Venosta is absolutely thrilled with the residence, open since September 2017.

“It’s great to be able to offer such a beautiful place for residents,” he said.

“It’s just down the road from Torquay’s beaches, boutiques and shopping centres.

Whether you’re walking, on a scooter or in a car it’s really easy to get around the local area.”

“The residence is beautifully decorated and all rooms are generously sized with a calming colour palette. We a range of affordable options so we encourage prospective residents and their families to give us a call or pop in for a tour.”

With more than 50 years’ experience and 12 aged care residences across Victoria, VMCH is a trusted aged care provider.
