Mount Duneed Pasture Field Day draws large crowd
LOCAL farmers were back at Mt Duneed last week for the Tactical AGA Systems Based Pasture Field Day which drew a large crowd of around 100 people.
Tactical AGA supply agronomy, seed, fert, and chemical needs. Tactical AGA’s Dickens Road site also includes an established demonstration site so farmers can see first hand how different pasture species and mixes respond to the local environment and soil types.
The site also included a longer deep rooted perennial trial that was showing good growth in dryer conditions.
Hosted by Senior Agronomists Wayne Firth, Ruby Gow and Rhianna Beacham at their Dickens Road warehouse and paddock demonstration site, the event was very well attended with attendees actively engaging in conversations about pastures and seeking advice.
Seed, agronomy, and rural services were all discussed which is now provided at a local level with a dedicated team of agronomists on hand that provide on the ground professional advice to best manage your crops and pastures.
There were also several other ag related businesses on hand to display new products and initiatives like Spraytec which had live demonstrations on adjuvant products along with tools and workshop equipment providers like Migomag Geelong.
Over the past three years agronomists Wayne Firth and Ruby Gow have developed pasture blends specifically for the Surf Coast and surrounds at this site.
The team initiated a trial site in 2022 which has allowed the development and viewing of pastures performance in local soils and conditions.
In 2023 the trial site was significantly expanded to enable a Field Day based on a systems approach to pastures, with farmers able to inspect over 50 different pasture varieties that include targeted pasture blends developed by Tactical AGA for Surf Coast growing conditions.
Mr Firth said that the site offers locals an opportunity to inspect a wide range of annual and perennial pastures in one location.
“The trial site is of a significant scale and that offers farmers a first hand look of how our pasture products perform in this environment,” Wayne said.
DLF Seeds, who are now the largest forage seed company in Australia, with over 80 years’ experience supplying Australian farmers with the widest range of forage seed varieties, have teamed up with Tactical AGA to ensure local farmers have Access to high-performance products developed specifically for Australian farmers.
DLF Seeds Simon Hunt was on hand to support the local’s event with a lifetime of knowledge in pasture improvement.
DLF Seeds Brad Byrnes presented the Tactical AGA team with the National Sales Growth Award for achieving the highest national sales of Mohaka AR37 in 2023, which is a high performance hybrid ryegrass.
Ruby Gow said that Tactical AGA have been hosting pasture Field Days and locals events to help famers achieve their goals by providing expert guidance and pasture improvement solutions.
Local farmers have said that having Tactical AGA at their doorstep is fantastic for them as it provides a one stop shop to source seed and fert, seek professional advice, and to see first hand, right at their back door, a wide range of trial plots reflecting just how their products perform in local conditions.
If you missed this field day, inspections can be booked with Wayne or Ruby who are also available to offer customers agronomic advice.
